'See No More' Single: Review

“See No More,” Joe Jonas’s debut single for his solo career, is mediocre in every way. It is palatable, but little else.

The lyrics are that of a typical break-up song. “You walked away from me, baby” and “You threw it all away” are standard, tired lines that fail to be delivered with any sincerity.

The music itself is only slightly more memorable. Percussion beats with high-pitched guitar music permeate the song, and the music swells appropriately at the chorus, but it’s not particularly catchy and feels like just another adult pop song. Joe Jonas’s vocals do not appear to be too heavily auto-tuned, but they are not impressive enough to distinguish from all of the other male pop stars out there.

In short, if Joe Jonas wants to be considered a serious artist, he needs to create something less bland and manufactured.

An Artist's Break-up Documented Through Music And Lyrics

Songs may be cathartic is to listeners-but they can moreover be cathartic is to singers and the artists as well. This may be seen (or, more aptly, heard) by the song and lyrics of artists and musicians who went by regretful separations with their partners. Their caustic practice fuel their songs and their lyrics, giving their song depth. These songs-with lyrics that frequently exhibit a few secrets about their past relationships-are frequently controversial; at the really least, they hint a few fascination in the song. After all, these songs and their revelatory lyrics are no longer rumors; they already verbalise the truth, given they came right away from the artist.

Not surprisingly, many of these important superstar break up songs are frequently completed by young artists. They frequently say that young artists are expected to bottom their functions on their personal lives; and the lyrics and the inspirations of their songs infer only that. A flagrant e.g. of this is Miley Cyrus’ “7 Things.” It was co-written by Cyrus, and it speaks of the things she hates about a established person.

As the initial segment of the lyrics reveal, there is no skepticism that she is singing about a past attribute (“When we consider the formerly / Relationship we common / It was overwhelming but we mislaid it / It’s not probable for me not to care,” the lyrics go). But what creates the lyrics more engaging is how the lyrics explain the child from her past. At one point, her lyrics charge him of having feelings for other girl. According to speculations, the song is about her formerly boyfriend, Nick Jonas. The two denied the rumors, but there’s really no way of knowing either she did affect to him or not.

More developed artists used songs as “therapy” too, as what Cyrus did. For instance, according to reports, Mandy Moore’s “Looking Forward to Looking Back” has lyrics describing her past attribute with actress Zach Braff. And the timing was propitious too-the lyrics and the song of the songs enclosed in her Wild Hope manuscript mostly impute to a unsuccessful love.

At this time, Moore attorney up with Braff. The lyrics of the songs moreover tie in the speculations that Braff was a “toxic beloved and was a “cheater.” Although the fact wasn’t revealed, Moore did exhibit what she felt during that time in one of her songs. For instance: “And we know you desired me in your way / I’m seeking deliver to seeking back on these days / And I’m fine, but I’m not okay” (from “Looking Forward to Looking Back”).
