Games Inbox: Liking Dungeon Siege, Super Mario anger, and Ocarinas forever

But I am interested in the third game for one simple reason: Obsidian. To me they are a lot like CD Projekt Red, they nearly always aim for the stars, even if they generally fall well short. Fallout: New Vegas was a great game let down by technical faults (some due to Bethesda but some due to them), Alpha Protocol is a game that could have been great (another six months to a year).  Knights Of The Old Republic II was also a great game, especially if you play the PC version with some of the features reinstated via a mod. I have played all of their games and found something to enjoy in each. Just thought I would belatedly opine on last week's E3 which I thought was pretty darn good. My favourite game of the entire show was Uncharted 3 (barely trumping BioShock Infinite) which will once again set the benchmark for cinematic games. BioShock Infinite was my favourite first person shooter at the show, with the floating city setting looking quite spectacular and it's nice to see the original BioShock developers back at the helm. Batman: Arkham City was another highlight, with the city looking very impressive and the news that Catwoman is a playable character being very welcome. In my opinion it was the 3DS that was the winner amongst all the consoles with Mario Kart, Resident Evil: Revelations, Super Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2, Star Fox 64 3D and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater all looking good. I can't think of another console that has so many must have exclusives coming out. Speaking of Zelda, it could be the title the 3DS so desperately needs (U.S. sales figures not good). It looks absolutely stunning, and a proper tribute to the remarkable original. I don't know anybody that played the Nintendo 64 original, that doesn't have anything but praise for the game. To be frank, if someone couldn't find enjoyment in that game, they shouldn't be playing games! Just bought Blood Stone 007.  I have always been a big James Bond fan and it's developed by one of my favourite developers, Bizarre Creations. Shame they are gone now. Blur was a competent racing title but came out the same time as Split/Second so didn't sell well. I will always remember them for Metropolis Street Racing on Dreamcast and Project Gotham Racing on Xbox/360. My favourite racing series ever! Now, back to Bond. Due to poor reviews and disappointing Bond titles that have been made in recent years I didn't pick Blood Stone 007 up at launch. Having bought it recently for £19.99 at Blockbuster though I am really glad I did. I was craving a Bond game as I haven't played one since Nightfire on Xbox/PlayStation2. I did rent Quantum of Solace but was disappointed with it. The graphics and set pieces are epic Bond and character animation is superb. The driving sections and action will please Bond fans with all the spectacle and destruction of the films and Bond always gets out of harm's way just in the nick of time. The original story is excellent. Online multiplayer works well enough but if you want to 'be' 007 and immerse yourself in a Bond adventure this is where the game shines. Overall it has left me one happy gamer/Bond fan. 8/10 Personally I feel the problem with Duke is that it's a painfully average game with frustrating technical problems (on the Xbox 360 version at least) on balance, without the technical issues, I would have thought that some of the novelty would have pushed it slightly above average to maybe 6/10 but the technical problems bring it down a couple of points to say 4, heck even a 3. But then what do I know, I thought Matt Hazard was an average 5/10 game too. PS: On a side note... I've just started playing Uncharted 2. Now why is it for every bit of platforming I'm thinking it's a poor man's Prince Of Persia/Assassin's Creed and for any of the action it's a subpar Gears Of War and yet I'm still thinking it's a great game? I'm amazed how much charm the characters have and how much it's improved the experience for me. My PlayStation Network email address hasn't been hacked (touch wood that it doesn't) but I have been receiving a ton of fake PayPal and bank/building society emails since the breach, telling me to update my security details by clicking on links and such. They're obviously fake with spelling mistakes, bad grammar and no mention of my name but be wary people! The Wii U is the console Nintendo is pinning its hopes on - but what do you think? Do you think the new touchscreen controller could change the way we look at gaming - or is it just a gimmick for its own sake? Is the Wii U going to be powerful enough, or will it just be overtaken by the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 within a few years? And are you worried about the price? And then what of the games? Nintendo promised a broad slate of highly un-Wii-like games designed to appeal to core gamers - is that enough to tempt you? Do you think Nintendo might have finally cracked the problem of third party support for their flagship platform? And what games that haven't been mentioned already would you like to see on the Wii U? Oh... and tell your son that he shouldn't forget about Steam accounts, and the "Good Old Games" website. And buy us both good gaming mice!

007: NightFire [PAL-E](Multi-4)[Megaupload]*

007: NightFire was developed by Eurocom for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and Xbox video game consoles. Gearbox Software developed the game for Windows using the GoldSRC engine, which Aspyr later re-released for the Mac. The computer versions are substantially different from the console versions, featuring different missions and a modified story line. In 2003 Electronic Arts released NightFire for the Game Boy Advance this time developed by JV Games. Overall there are many weapons that the player can carry including grenades of various sorts and other types of explosives. In addition, there are numerous amounts of mounted weapons found throughout the game. As with previous James Bond games, the weapons that appear are based on actual weapons, but with the names changed. Some weapons appear in the console version but not the PC version, and vice-versa. In the multiplayer mode of Nightfire players can play in many different levels, including Fort Knox, from Goldfinger, Atlantis and the sub docking pen from The Spy Who Loved Me, and many Nightfire related levels, including Drake's castle, Drake's underwater base, and Drake's secret missile silo. Other levels include Skyrail and Ravine. The player may choose to play against AI bots with customizable reaction time, speed, and health. The amount of usable bots vary in the console version. In the Gamecube and Xbox version, up to 6 bots may be used. In the PlayStation 2 version, up to 4 bots may be used and up to 4 humans can play. In the PC version, up to 12 bots may be used. The PC version also has an online multiplayer mode. Some medals obtained will unlock new characters. Notable characters included from previous James Bond films include Francisco Scaramanga and Nick Nack from The Man with the Golden Gun, May Day and Max Zorin from A View to a Kill, Jaws from The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker, Elektra King and Renard from The World Is Not Enough, Auric Goldfinger and Oddjob from Goldfinger, and Baron Samedi from Live and Let Die. Players can customize multiplayer settings before playing. However, one disadvantage to this is that the game will not save the alterations players make to the multiplayer mode. Each version of the game differs significantly from the others. The PC version, for example, had fewer levels than the console versions and does not implement driving mode. It begins the plot right at Drake's Austrian castle, skipping over the French mission.
