On the front to the lower left of the stamped embossed U.S. decoration. That combination is also stamped on two areas of the holster strap. The strap appears to have been modified by the serviceman who used it, as there is a small piece of leather cut away at the upper left of the embossed U.S. decoration. I believe this was done either to make drawing the pistol easier, or making it so the finger could reach the trigger while holstered, or both. Some dark wear marks inside the holster show where the original pistol was held. Both gun holsters are in surprisingly good condition for their age and use. The leather is not cracking or brittle, and the holsters feels like it they have many years of use left in them. The leather and snaps have been untouched. By untouched, we mean not cleaned. We usually clean everything we offer, but considering the historical value of this holster, I wanted any possible war residue to remain intact. These holsters radiate an aura of real history, and handling them gives you a very strange and special feeling. The original owner of the U.S. holster probably shot the owner of the German holster, and for this reason, we will offer them only as a pair. Though this might not be the most practical thing to do, we feel really weird about breaking them up (so please don’t ask).
